Mongolia is a country with large territory (occupies 1,565 million km 2 of land ) in Asia bordered by Russia to the north, China to the south. Population is very small (2.95 million). One third of the population live in the capital Ulaanbaatar, the rest in 21 provinces.

We celebrated WHPCD 3 days in Mongolia.
1. We organized lecture about palliative care developments in Mongolia in October 9, at the big hall of the Health Sciences University of Mongolia and participated students from HSUM, other medical schools.
2. We organized Conference "Patients right" at the Ministry of Health in October 10. Invited Officer of the MoH Tsetsegdary. responsible for health policy, director Altaisaikhan from School of Medicine, HSUM, director of NCC. All hospices of Mongolia participated in the Conference with 16 presentations on palliative care researches. All articles of the Conference published as a book. Mss Tsetsegdary evaluates us that the Mongolian Palliative Care Society is a big army.
3. We organized concert and invited patients and families. 3 doctors recieved honored certificate and 3 doctors, 3 nurses recieved medal of best palliative care workers of the 2008.

Mongolia has established the foundation measures for a national palliative care program. Generic cost-effective opioids have been made available. Prescription regulations have been changed to allow opioid use according to good medical practice. Education on palliative care has been incorporated into the undergraduate curricula of doctors, nurses, and social workers, and the training of specialists in palliative care has been initiated concurrent with established standards for palliative care.
Palliative care development in Mongolia
Mongolian Palliative Care Society was established in 2000
Inpatient palliative care department with 10 beds was established in the National Cancer Center in 2000 by OSI support
Basic and advanced training manuals for palliative care developed in Mongolian language by OSI support
10 courses on palliative care were organized by MPCS in 2003-2004 and 800 doctors and nurses from 5 provinces, 3 districts of Ulaanbaatar and major Medical Centers participated in these courses.
